Nursery Times

A visit from Grandma and Grandpa yielded fun, fellowship, lots of food and one nursery project!!

This past weekend Grandma and Grandpa came to visit us to help paint the nursery and just to enjoy some family time before our baby boy gets here! I wish we could say that we did more than just work and eat, but those are the facts.

Grandpa and Dad got right to work, but soon found that they needed some additional supplies.

One thing I learned is that when a guy says "I'm just going to run to Lowe's real quick" that the equivalent is like me saying "I just want to run into Anthropologie real quick." Real quick can be a mighty long time... Especially if you are going to travel this way...I literally could not stop laughing when I saw Rich in the scooter.

We finally got everything we needed and the guys got back to work. Grandpa seals the corners of the chair rail with some caulk.Rich finishes the last coat of paint before the "big reveal."

You can't see it all here, but it looks wonderful. I will be sure and post pics of the finished product when we have more than just paint on the walls.

We had a lot of fun. While Rich and Dad were painting, Mom and I got some "baby" chores done and then, of course, we ate. Only 13 weeks to go...and then I am going to eat all the brie and hot dogs I can find. I am NOT kidding!

6 Months Go by in a Flash!

I had my 24 week (actually it was 25) appointment on Monday. I had to do a glucose tolerance test and got my blood drawn for what the doctor said would be "the last time during my pregnancy." A small victory, I guess, in comparison to what will happen in about 15 weeks.

In the meantime, Rich and I are working hard at getting the nursery set up and we've gotten some super cute gifts so far! Thanks to friends, family and certainly grandmother's our baby's wardrobe is starting to shape up! You can't see them here, but he's even got his first pair of jeans...way too cute.

Have you ever seen such a cute little onesie! Thank you Grammie! There are even sippy cups and blocks to match. Let's hope he doesn't go to Florida!

Yes, Rich and I have picked a name, but we aren't revealing it just yet. Here's a clue just to keep you guessing. And, sorry, Dad...it's not Joe! Please, no guessing on the blog, we want it to be a surprise :)

Three is the Magic Number

Did you know that three years ago yesterday, you were all celebrating and sharing in our special day? Did you know that we think of that day often and feel so blessed with everyone who could be there to share in our lives then and continue to share in our lives now? Well, now you know.

Monday marked our three year anniversary. Last year we celebrated in Bali, Indonesia and we never would have guessed that for our third year that we would be taken into the desert (literally). What a wonderful journey we are on and how blessed we are to be celebrating another year. We reflected that life hasn't been a cake walk and although there are certainly things we wish we could change, we wouldn't take nothing for our journey now.

We spotted a quaint dinner spot and knew just where we would spend our third year dinner. A cute little couple who had been married 41 years sat next to us and shared some of their wisdom. They said, noticing my belly...or was it my appetite, "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother and the best thing a mother can do for her children is to love their father." Amen!

The waiter even surprised us with a special "anniversary treat" (seen above before it was devoured).

We stopped for breakfast and a little early morning scrabble and then we took a stroll of the grounds. Nice view, huh?

We sat creekside and relaxed and recanted our previous year and daydreamed of what's to come for the next year. (thanks for the reccommendation on the chairs, Kelly)

Rich took this picture and I thought it was a great illustration of marriage and many other things in life. Ecclesiastes says "two are better than one, if one falls down, his friend can lift him up." That's like marriage. Most of the time one of us is in need of a little lifting up.

The Six Month Belly

There it is folks...the six month belly. I am now officially being stopped by other pregnant women and strangers asking me all kinds of questions about the baby. One woman stopped me the other day and just said "you're cute." I wasn't sure if that was because I am pregnant or if she just thought I was cute. Nonetheless, I smiled awkwardly, said "thank you" and kept walking. So much for being a private person! Pregnancy really hinders that if you are going to be out and about.
Anyway, I am feeling wonderful and Rich and I have our next appointment on the 15th. We will be sure and keep you posted! Baby is moving all the time and seems to like meal time :)

P.S. Since I am now referring to my face as a "moonpie," you may not get to see what I look like at 8 or 9 months. Much more than just the belly is growing and I may stop documenting alltogether!
