His Big Boy Week

It's been a tough week for Mommy and Daddy. Our little infant/newborn decided this week that he was going to be a big boy (and mommy and daddy had to let go a little too). Here's how our week went:

Monday: Tried peas and liked them. he now has eaten two veggies and rice cereal.

Tuesday: We stopped using the infant car seat and he's now in his "big boy" seat. In addition, he now only uses his "big boy" stoller.

Wednesday: took our first outing in new carseat and stroller...he was a champ, like he had been waiting for both his whole life! He fell asleep the instant the car started moving.

Thursday: Mommy went to get her hair done and Joaquin stayed with Daddy all evening - a guys night at home. First night in Big Boy pajamas (no sleep sack).

Friday: Celebrated Mommy's birthday with a late afternoon outing and some shopping.

Saturday: The whammie...we checked him into the nursery at church for the first time. of course, we checked on him three times (peeked through the glass) and kept looking at our pager to see if it had gone off (it hadn't).

Sunday: His first big boy poo poo...don't ask...!!!

The Fast and The Furious

Basically, that describes how much I am learning and doing week by week. Mommy can't even keep up anymore! I am rolling around all over the place and starting to scoot just a little. I don't think my parents are quite prepared for me to be mobile. But it probably won't be for a couple of months just yet. Every day is a new adventure and when a week passes, Mommy can't believe how much I've changed. The other night, I think she was crying when she put me to bed, because my head was all wet!! (note from mommy: yes, that's true, I just can't believe how much he's already grown and how blessed we are to have him)!

Below: Later that day, after a second nap, I was busted again. Broke out of my swaddle and turned on my fishy aquarium...hey, I needed some entertainment (I'm just like my daddy!). Can you blame me?

Brusha, Brusha, Brusha

Hey, Cuz!

Meet my cousin Caysen! The Nothnagel family came to visit us this past week and I got to meet my cousins Kelsey, Kylie and Caysen and my Aunt Vanessa and Uncle Eric for the first time! Caysen and I had a great time together slobbering, rolling around on the floor, eating each others feet and hands, kicking, squealing and otherwise just hanging around. Here's a few highlights from our time together :)

I went swimming...NOT!!

Timing is everything! We went for out first dip (literally, dip) in the pool about three weeks ago, but there was no shade, no sunscreen, it was his witching hour...kinda bad timing for everyone involved. But of course, even though it wasn't a total success, we got some pics nonetheless!

Other than the wonderful breakfast Ryan cooked for us (best bacon and pancakes I ever tasted), we got to spend some quality time with the Hahn family! Ellie was coming back from Hawaii, so we missed her, but here's who we did see:

Grammie's Garden

On our visit to So. Cal, we got to spend the night at Grammy and Papa's. I got to look around the backyard where daddy grew up and see how green my Grammy's thumb is. When my mommy was pregnant with me she drank the sweet nectar from these orange trees almost every day. So, basically I was raised on these trees :)

Somebody Likes Carrots...

But does NOT like rice cereal (unless mixed with carrots)!! I have had my second food experience and it is much better than rice cereal! I tried carrots for the first time yesterday and was a bit skeptical, but today was much different. I wanted to eat everything in site, including my bib, my hands, my spoon....but most importantly my carrots!! Give me liberty and give me carrots!!
