22 Weeks and Counting

Well, I've passed the "half way" mark and our baby boy is growing stronger each day. The little flutter kicks have graduated to full blown kicks. I have been able to see these for a while, but because he is in my body, I know what to look for. Over the past few weeks, however, Rich has been able to enjoy this process with me and we have found that cold grapes are a winner for the little guy. Rich will literally stuff grapes into my mouth in the morning so that he can see his son "kick." It is pretty funny.

The ultrasound is from our 20 week visit. His head is on the left and you can see a faint outline of his profile (nose and lips) and his chest is on the right. Rich and I read him stories at bedtime and he enjoys when I sing the "Gummi Bear" theme song and responds by kicking and spinning.

Rusty's Rainbow

Two years ago Rich lost a very dear pet. Rusty was a friendly and loyal golden retriever who lived his whole life to chase tennis balls. The day Rich found out that Rusty had died, he was driving to an appointment and the skies were dark and rain filled. When he finally arrived to his destination after hearing the sad news, he looked into the sky and noticed not one, but TWO beautiful rainbows sitting side by side. A double rainbow!

Rich knew that it was Rusty telling him that he was okay. From that day forward, when Rich or I see a rainbow, we know Rusty is saying hello and telling us he is okay. It is our way of honoring him and remembering him in our hearts. This past weekend, we were honored to see a rainbow in our neighborhood hanging high over the mountains. We smiled and said "hello, Rusty."

The suspense ended this morning when our little "not so shy" guy shall we say revealed himself almost instantly! As if to say...here you go, can I get some rest now? So, the family name will indeed go on. Our baby was once again very active and the doctor said his organs (heart, lungs, bladder, liver, etc...) all look great. His heartbeat was 154, he weighs about 15 oz. and he actually measured at 21 wks. (even though I am 20 wks. pregnant) which the doctor said would most likely fluctuate over the course of the pregnancy.

We even got to see his profile and from what Rich saw, he's going to have my nose. I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Either way, we are super excited and celebrated with the baby's favorite snack...STEAK!

How 'Bout Them Dawgs!

It was college football game day in our household. Rich and I donned our Georgia Bulldog gear and readied ourselves for the 4:00 p.m. start of the Georgia/Oklahoma State game. The Dawgs did not dissapoint and downed Okla. St. with some impressive defense and consistent offensive plays. Final score? GA: 35 OSU: 14
